Firstly, we want to express our greatest appreciation towards all those who actively joined our meet-up today.
In this second meet-up of Free Hugs Vietnam, we have:
- Introduced the upcoming activity: “Marketing and Event Competition”
- Introduced and raised some additional funds for this week event: “Mid-autumn festival” (on Saturday, August 3rd, 2009)
- Introduced SEAforCHANGE (i.e., South East Asia for Change) movement: how to raise your voice to change the community for the better and stand a chance to win a free trip to Kuala Lumpur to meet the ten global major change icons and interact with the youth from other South East Asian countries.
- And as usual, played some warm-up games to rock you all. :D
- As the Mid-autumn festival charity event is drawing near, we will highly value all the support and donations from members and non-members alike to Free Hugs Vietnam. Right now, we are open to receive all the donations and participating registrations from you guys. Without your help, the event cannot succeed by itself. ^___^. And of course, with your contributions, physically and financially, we will turn this upcoming Mid-autumn festival into one of the most memorable events not only to the less unfortunate but to our members as well. We are thankful to HOW volunteers for donating 200 milk packages and FHV members who have donated right after today’s meeting and hope to receive more from others as well (please help spread words around so that people will turn their attention to this donation campaign):

We are also calling for the participation of approximately FHV 32 volunteers to be traveling to the 4 informed destinations to give gifts and play games with the less fortunate children, before gathering in the center on the Mid-autumn day. Up to now 7 HOW volunteers will be joining FHV on that day and 16 FHV members have registered with Mr. Quang – the Vice President and HR Manager after the meeting; so others who would like to join this super-exciting event please contact quang.luu@freehugsvietnam.com or 0938 107 017.
- Besides, Free Hugs Vietnam’s management board decided to hold a competition called “Marketing and Event competition” where you guys will form groups of 3-6 people and pick up one topic from marketing / event to prepare for. The idea behind this competition is that instead of setting up all the event plans by ourselves for you to take part in, we will let you be the ones who make the plans. Well, this is a great chance to express your talents, creativity, and various soft skills (presentation, communication, teamwork, leadership & management) right? J. So, what are you waiting for? Join this competition to contribute to promoting our Free Hugs Vietnam family. ^__^
Please discuss with your friends to finalize the teams by October 11 and send the details (team name & team members) to FHV at quang.luu@freehugsvietnam.com. Training workshops will be held right after that to help candidates prepare themselves better and the competition closes by November 8. The details about the competition (eligible participants, time, panel of judges, …) will be uploaded and sent to you in a short while.

Most importantly, Mr Brian Lariche was also a guest at FHV’s meeting, which is a great honour to all of us. Having worked for countless projects and attended famous conferences worldwide, he came to share valuable experiences and advice with FHV members on matters like scholarships applications, essays, projects, etc. Thank you a lot Brian!
