Update on Mid-autumn Festival for FHV in HCMC

11:13 AM

Dear guys,

As you have already been informed about the rough plan for the upcoming Mid-autumn Festival event held by FHV in HCMC scheduled to take place on October 3rd 2009; FHV members will be divided into small groups to go around the city, giving gifts to less fortunate people and children. These are the areas we are going to cover:

1. Thủ Thiêm Ferry
2. Tao Đàn Park
3. Lê Văn Tám Park
4. Along Nguyễn Thượng Hiền street

The final destination for everyone is Ben Thanh market & 23/9 Park; we will continue walking to Notre Dame, 30/4 Park, and finally, Con Rua Lake. We are planning to enlist the support of 30-40 volunteers. There will be 200 gifts for this charity trip, each consisting of milk and a mooncake, and the  total costs amount to 6 million VND (approximately 30,000 VND/ gift). Up to now we have managed to raise 900,000 VND funding and FHV’s management board contributed 700,000 VND, so we need more financial support from all of you. If you guys (or perhaps you can tell your friends and acquaintances about this) want to contribute, you can

* Donate directly at the upcoming FHV’s meetup on September 27th, or
* Donate to the account of Nguyen Thi Khanh Huyen, Vietcombank – 007.1.00.466259.7 (please send her an email at admin@freehugsvietnam.com or contact her at 0942 190 990 after doing so)

We are really looking forward to your support! Let’s coordinate all our efforts to make this event successful, bringing joy and happiness to other people through our meaningful acts!

Thank you very much and hope to see you all there.

Raise your voice, make a change and win a trip to Kuala Lumpur!!!

02:01 AM

Are you young? Are you creative? Do you want to speak out your mind and make changes to your life and your country?

Southeast Asia for Change (SEAforCHANGE) movement is to bring together 1,000,000 Southeast Asian youths between the ages of 15 to 35 to produce a youth report which will be sent to 2000 regional leaders in business, politics and media to help them understand the youth segment and how to lead them.

The climax of this movement is the Youth Engagement Summit (YES) 2009 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), where 10 global change icons like:

* Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan
* Founder of Live Aid Sir Bob Geldof
* Cofounder of Twitter.com Biz Stone
* Marketing director of Facebook Randi Zuckenburg
* AirAsia chief executive officer Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes
* Former World Bank managing director Dr Mamphele Ramphele
* The World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov
* The ultimate survivor of the tragic 1972 Andes airplane crash Nando Parado

will speak to to the youths!

6000 youth representatives from Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei are expected to attend the event at the world-class Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC). This movement was inspired by the motto “Yes we can” of the US President Barack Obama, initiated by Youth Asia and supported by various organizations, universities and enterprises including WYF (World Youth Foundation), AEISEC, TakingITGlobal, AirAsia, HELP University College, etc. and of course FHV (Free Hugs Vietnam).

That sounds good so far, but to make it really work, SEAChange needs your help!!

Raise your voice

By the time I’m blogging, there are already more than 179 000 youths from all around Southeast Asia participating in this survey. What about you? What about us? What about Vietnamese youths? Don’t be left out!! Raise your voice, tell people what you think should be changed and how you are going to change it.

Simply do it by two steps:
1. Log on to www.YES2009.asia/seachange or www.vietnam.youthsays.com/seachange
2. Answer the survey, and tell anyone aged between 15 to 35 to join too. And your voices will be heard!

By doing so, you and your friends stand a chance to win a FREE trip to meet top global change icons at the Youth Engagement Summit (YES) 2009 on November 16 & 17 in Kuala Lumpur. Rewards include return air flights, full accommodation and delegate passes worth in excess of US$2,500 each. We are also giving away more than 100 scholarships to deserving youth who participate in this historic survey!

Become a youth partner
Youth leaders who run Youth communities or programmes are welcomed to be part of the movement. For more information, please visit: http://www.yes2009.asia/becomepartner.html

*** For youth communities in Vietnam: We need more partners here, so please don’t hesitate to be a part of this historic movement!!
